In 2023, we added a cattle herd to our farm, which has helped out farm grow immensely. While our short terms plans involve selling beef into the commodity market, we do have a limited amount of grass-fed beef available to our customers at select times of the year.

Our cattle are raised on pasture in the summer months, with frequent moves as part of our planned (rotational) grazing system. Our cattle are fed hay and forages during the winter months. We use strategies such as bale grazing in the winter month to help distribute animals waste and forage waste on our pastures.

To note: As part of the developmental process of young yearling heifers, we do supplement a small amount of grain to ensure they meet their nutritional requirements during the critical phase of growing before their first breeding season, but afterwards, all cattle are finished on a grass diet. These yearling heifers are not intended to be part of our meat marketing program - we mention it here in the aim of transparency that some animals on our farm may be given small amounts of grain in their lifetime.
